The objectives of this organization is mainly to promote interest in Mechanical Engineering and in closely related fields, and to give proper recognition to the people, who make an outstanding effort towards the success of students in Mechanical Engineering.
At the end of every semester, since the Fall of 1999, members of Sigma Mu submit nominations, and the Executive gets together and selects the semester recipient. Also, as an added bonus, the award winner becomes an honorary member of the Sigma Mu Engineering Foundation.
